‘Be a Great Listener’ piece was born as a social media campaign for an organization that helps individuals to build resilience in the face of adversity by providing the tools to help your family, friends, and the community.

The specific theme for this campaign was to depict what one action you can take to be there for someone who is going through a difficult time during the holiday season. Although there are many things one can do, I feel the most supported when friends and family truly listens — in a way where my heart feels connected.

I wanted to convey this very feeling into my piece and decided to letter the quote ‘Be a Great Listener’ and illustrate the meaning of the quote. There’s a woman talking about her concerns while the other women is purely listening (where I emphasized this by larger ear size). They are truly in sync and this is portrayed by the connected heart. And the dotted line represents the ‘wireless’ part of it — you can’t see the connection but it’s there and it’s solid.

I purposely chose bright red as the main color of the piece, as the campaign was happening during the holidays yet I paired with a bright blue color for a popping effect, making the piece a bit more memorable.
